Teaser Video of DoryVR
DoryVR is an extended-reality platform that allows students to give interactive data presentations in both VR and AR. With DoryVR, users leverage features such as individual presentation dashboards, customizable levels of immersion, as well as scalable, interactive 3D data visualization.
Description:
The client for our project is Dr. Kim Hyatt, the professor for the Heinz College course, “Communication in VR”. This course teaches Master’s students how to give presentations about data in virtual reality (VR). Dr. Hyatt uses the VR program Spatial to host her class. Because Spatial does not offer a way to view data or media in 3 dimensions, the presentations still feel traditional and 2D, as students are only using slides and screenshots of data as material.
The goal of our team is to create a custom XR (Extended Reality) platform that teaches students to present 3D data visualizations while improving their engagement, storytelling skills, and self-reflection ability. The tool should be fun and interactive to use.
We developed DoryVR and delivered the product to our client. We hosted 3 rounds of user studies with participants and experts from 2 iterations of the course to finalize our system.
